Summer sessions start in:
The Brockville Bike Ministry - Nurturing our leaders of tomorrow.
It is time to offer a safe place where the youth of our community can drop in to meet NEW and old friends while learning the skills youth need to assemble and keep their very own bike from used, donated and recycled frames/parts (with plenty of help)... for free!
Youth between 10-19 are welcome!
Special needs youth within age range are welcome with an adult.
Mr. Eric Montgomery

Eric Montgomery, Executive Director 246.6703
Eric has spent the last year recycling used bikes that have been discarded and donating the majority of his rebuilt bicycles to members of the Brockville community who may be unable to afford a bike. Eric has recently started to work on his own website offering a cost-saving alternative from throwing broken or unused bikes into the garbage to having Eric repair them at a nominal fee for parts and labour. It is through this work that he began wondering how he could help our youth by offering them a safe place to gather and create. Brockville Bike Ministry is his dream coming true!
Eric is currently serving a three year term on the city's Cycling Advisory Committee which is pursuing safer bike routes for our youth to schools, bicycle rodeos, and other cycling events. Eric is a participant in Welcome Cyclists - working towards safer biking within the Brockville community.
Eric had his heart broken during the summer of 1958 when his very first and only new bicycle was stolen. In 1959, at the age of 10, Eric rebuilt/recycled his first bike and has continued to be involved in creating bikes from discarded bicycles. In March 2011 Eric sucessfully completed the Professional Bicycle Mechanic program at Winterborn Bicycle in Guelph. It is Eric's hope that the City of Brockville will further develop Brockville's downtown core by installing bike stands for residents and visitors.
What's in the future for Eric? Eric will be heading to New York this fall to further his bicycle building knowledge by taking a bamboo bicycle course, creating custom specifications bamboo bikes for clients over the winter months.
Hmmmm... I wonder if I get the practice bike? Kelly
